Just got home from a 10pm PST viewing on 8/15. I think the film is terrific and easily takes its place as the third best in the series. I am a fellow fan of the series since the first film came out when I was 8. I have listened carefully to your individual and group criticisms, and respectfully I think you are being too critical of the reverence the film has for the past. Every “call back”, from the dipping bird to “Get away from her you ” made me smile and didn’t take me out of it.
